A short trip up the river

This weekend we had a visit from friends who have a boat in Lincolnshire who wanted a trip up the Nene. due to the weekends rain the river was running a bit fast and headroom was limited on one of the bridges but we made it to a pub where we enjoyed a drink.

More rain on the way back. For this trip I had temporarily wired in a new wiper  to keep the screen clear but it was only partially successful.

On the return we had no more than 1 1/2 inches clearance on the bridge before our marina, something we need to bear in mind when the weather is not good.

On the Hard standing

This winter Halcyon was lifted out to let me have a good look over the hull. The toilet seacocks were quite badly pitted inside so it was decided to replace them at this time.

About Halcyon

Halcyon is a 25’, aft cabin  motor cruiser built by Albin Marin of Sweden around 1976. Originally fitted with a Volvo diesel engine Halcyon has had this replaced at some time with a 1.5 BMC diesel.
The interior is equipped with a sea toilet, Gas cooker and has 4 berths. The cockpit has a hard top with a canvas cover over the helm.
It is currently based on the River Nene in Northamptonshire, and due to limited free time on my part will mostly be used for day trips on the river.
